Which EID readers and tags work

The FlockFinder app works with several EID readers, including our own FlockFinder FDX Reader. Readers must use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). They connect to the app on your phone, not the website. You need app version 2.34.0 or later.

Readers you can use

• FlockFinder FDX Reader
• Shearwell SDL440S
• Tru-Test (Datamars) SRS2i, XRS2i and XRP2i
• Agrident / Allflex AWR250 and AWR300
• Gallagher HR0

Tru-Test readers must have a small "i" at the end of the model name. An SRS2 without the "i" uses older Bluetooth and will not connect. Other readers that use older Bluetooth will not connect either.

Get a FlockFinder FDX Reader

Add one when you choose your plan: select With EID Reader on the Plans page. It's a one-off payment, and the price depends on your plan.

Tags and the FlockFinder FDX Reader

• It reads FDX tags only. Most UK sheep tags are FDX.
• It works on any animal with an FDX tag, including sheep, cattle and goats.
• It does not read HDX tags. If your tags are HDX, use another reader from the list that reads HDX. Check with the reader's maker.
• Shearwell tags are often a mix of FDX and HDX, so they may not work with the FlockFinder FDX Reader.
• Not sure which tags you have? Ask your tag supplier.
